Response To Poetry

To You
      By Langston Hughes,

To sit and dream,to sit and read,
To sit and learn about the world
Outside our world of here and now-
    Our problem world-
To dream of vast horizons of the soul
Through dreams made whole,
Unfettered, free-help me!
All you who are dreamers too,
    Help me to make
    Our world anew.
I reach out my dreams to you.

Here is my Response to the Poem "To You"

How can sitting, dreaming and reading help change the world? It can change the world because if you learn about things you can help solve problems like slavery. In this poem "To You" by Langston Hughes he writes that if you are educated you can stop problems like slavery. His problem is slavery.
"To sit and dream, to sit and read To sit and learn about the world"means sitting, dreaming and reading can help make the world a better place for everyone. When Hughes writes "Through dreams made whole, Unfettered,free-help me"means to free him and other slaves from slavery."To dream of vast horizons of the soul" rhymes with "Through dreams made whole."The lines "All you who are dreamers too, Help me to make our world anew" means to make our world a better place for everybody."All you who are dreamers too, rhymes with"Our world anew."I reach out my dreams to you also rhymes with"Our world anew".Most of the rhymes in this poem are end-rhyme.There is only one internal rhyme and that is "free" rhymes with "me" in the line "Unfettered free-help me!"There is a rhytm to the poem. There is alliteration in the line "Unfettered, free-help me!"
This poem affects us today because we also should be educated and make the world a much better place for everyone. This poem is similiar to the poem"Dreams" also by Langston Hughes. Langston Hughes poems are related to dreams.I think if we work hard we can make our world a better place for everyone. It would be a world without discrimination.
